Angelus is a brand, sounds familiar and unfamiliar. The brand was off stage for three to four decades due to the quartz crisis, only to re-emerge 10 years ago. As for familiarity, it turns out that my collection of Panerai 8 Day, Cartier's CPCP Monopoussoir, and the Chronoswiss special edition for Watch The World all have intricate connections to it. To understand this long-standing connection, I traveled to Switzerland to visit Angelus and its movement manufacturer, La Joux-Perret. What has the history of this century-old watch brand been?
